Usually the end of January, the Jackson Hamfest moved to the first weekend of February in 2024, due to a venue scheduling conflict. The new Trade Mart facility was a grand location as usual, Load-in for vendors started around noon Friday, and the doors opened to the public at 4:00 Friday and lasted until 7:00 that evening. The 2023 Capitol City Hamfest (aka Jackson Hamfest) was held January 27-28 at the Trade Mart in Jackson, MS. The room opened for load-in and setup at noon Friday, and opened to the public Friday night 5:00 to 8:00. The following day, the event started at 8:00 AM and closed shop at 3:00 PM. Plenty of flea market vendors and a few commercial vendors were present for the event.

Capitol City Hamfest. I just needed to get that phrase said on the front end, and be done with it. Nobody I know actually calls it that, everyone calls it the "Jackson Hamfest", with no further explanation needed. This is the granddaddy of all Mississippi hamfests, and it (usually) pulls a good crows. Attendance seemed to be down in 2022, but we were just coming out of the pandemic era, and a lot of folks were probably still skittish about getting out in public.
