Capitol City Hamfest (Jackson) 2023

2023 AMATEUR amateur radio capitol city hamfest FAT CAT HAM RADIO JACKSON MISSISSIPPI MS radio

The 2023 Capitol City Hamfest (aka Jackson Hamfest) was held January 27-28 at the Trade Mart in Jackson, MS.  The room opened for load-in and setup at noon Friday, and opened to the public Friday night 5:00 to 8:00.   The following day, the event started at 8:00 AM and closed shop at 3:00 PM.  Plenty of flea market vendors and a few commercial vendors were present for the event.

The new Trade Mart. now a couple of years old, is still one of the nicest hamfest venues in the South.  The floor is spacious, tables ($25 each) are affordable, and the Saturday crowd was larger than in recent years.

The concession stands were open. Food was good, but expensive.  A foot-long corn dog, three chicken strips, and two bottles of water totaled $23.  Ouch!

Lilly the bulldog attended with her owners, and she got lots of head rubs and affection, especially at the Fat Cat booth.

Margaret, treasurer of the Jackson radio club, came by to visit after the event closed, and we had a great time visiting with her.

Whether you are a vendor or an attendee, this is a must-attend hamfest in the Mid-South.

Fat Cat's resident Booth Babe.

Caleb Rich, K5RFL attended the hamfest

Browsers filled the room on Saturday.

Billy Miller from Grenada was a flea market vendor.

Lots of attendees made the hamfest a lot of fun.

Vintage gear was not in short supply this weekend.

Lynn and Lilly getting to know each other.
