It's not often I'm genuinely impressed by an eBay seller, but I found one this week. Transplant Supply Surplus in Valrico, FL.
A Drake radio just stopped working the other night, and it turned out the fuse holder in the power supply just gave it up. It must have had an old crack in the body, and spring pressure finally caused it to go poof. No fixing it, and in all the bags of fuse holders I have, I didn't have the correct Bussman fuse holder. Bummer.
A quick check on eBay found some Chinese fuse holders that were probably close, but if I put a cheap Chinese part in a Drake, the whole rig would probably quit in protest. The Drake Police would probably show up at my door and haul me off. Not wanting to deal with the Drake Police, I kept looking, and stumbled across a listing for pretty much the exact Bussman holder I was looking for. The only difference I can see (and it's an irrelevant difference) is the original has a twist cap, and the ones from TSS have a screw cap. I knew about that when I ordered it, but if it fits right, and everything else matches, who cares? Certainly not me.
I've added a photo of the deceased holder next to the replacement. Pretty darn close!
If you need a dinosaur part, and I don't have it, I think I can easily recommend Transplant Supply Surplus. I cannot find a website/phone number/FB page for them, so they may sell only on ebay. Their seller ID on ebay is transplant_supply_surplus.
