SBE Model 34 SSB/CW Transceiver, 15M, 20M, 40M, 80M

Cosmetically very nice, this transceiver is from a smoke-free home.

The receiver side is solid state, and the transmitter side has three tubes.  Comes with the power adapter/cable so it can be plugged directly into wall AC, no need for an external power supply.

This powered up fine, and I did get audio from the internal speaker.  Audio stayed the same when connected to an external speaker.  No voice received, but I did get band noise and what sounded like some digital transmission noise.  I tried all four bands, and all sounded about the same.  No WWV heard.  A good cleaning of the controls may fix it, or it may require a lot more.  Due to this, it is being sold as is, for parts or repair.  No warranty, no return.

This belonged to an engineer, and it appears he maintained it when needed.  The Tune/Operate rocker switch has been replaced with a small toggle.  It works as designed, and looks almost like it came with it.  There is one extra mini-toggle added just to the left of the bandswitch control.  It has three positions, and I cannot tell that it does anything.  It may be related to the transmission side, but that is an absolute guess.

The VFO turns smoothly.   The controls all operate, none of them are locked up or feel different than they should.   I did not try to transmit.  Carrying handle feels solid.
