MFJ says this about the 222:

The MFJ-222 uses low power, high-speed dual comparator circuit to allow precision phase measurements between 1 - 50 MHz. A circuit indicates if unknown phase lags or leads the reference signal.

Signals used for measurement can come from an antenna analyzer such as the MFJ-269 or any other generator that will supply at least 1 Volt peak output into the load.

It has a built-in switchable 50 Ohm load (250 mWmax) so the use of an external load and BNC TEE is not needed in most tests.

MFJ-222 will read the frequency of the signal so generators with only a coarse or no frequency readout can even be used.

Set-up is simple. Plug in the signal generator output to IN, connect the Reference OUT to the input of the network and the output of the network to UNKNOWN IN. Turn it on and read the phase shift and the frequency.

A bright two line LCD display allows precision readout of the phase from -180 to +180 degrees without interpreting an analog meter or guessing at the phase polarity. With low power components, it will operate many hours on a single 9V battery or with the optional AC adapter MFJ-1312D.

NOTE ABOUT FACTORY DISPLAY UNITS:

USED: eBay requires items that have been used as retail displays to be listed as "used", even if they have never been sold. This item has never been sold or placed into service. This is a fully-functional unit that was used as a static display either in MFJ's offices or as part of MFJ's hamfest display booth. As such, it may have cosmetic scuffs or scrapes on the cabinet, it may have some extra, tiny holes (usually two at the most) in the cabinet from security brackets on the hamfest displays. Hamfest displays often had a "show sticker" applied to the cabinet. If so, those have been removed, and there may be some adhesive residue left where the sticker once was. Goo-Gone and rubbing with a thumbnail will usually remove all or most of the residue. The residue is a cosmetic thing only. Some case screws may be missing, or may be mismatched.

The photos here are of the actual item being sold, not "stock" photos. Please look closely at the photos, as those are the best guide to the cosmetic condition of the cabinet or case. If you'd like, you can always repaint the cabinet with readily available matte-finish black paint.
